September 2004 - March 2010I was a TA during my graduate studies and then volunteered for three years thereafter to teach undergraduate physics lab courses. This work is compelling to me because, in trying to answer the myriad questions students new to physics ask, I get to share in the raw wonder of science. Moreover, volunteering focuses my efforts entirely on student learning, which I find very rewarding. Among the many enjoyable work experiences I have been fortunate to encounter, my fondest memories are from teaching.

This was an enlightening, difficult experience that offered opportunities for leadership growth. I earned an Honorable Discharge for my eight years of military service, and I was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for my accomplishments in Kuwait.
